Welcome to my website. This site is about my hometown in Eastern Kentucky and its history as well as the history of my family line including the Davidson's, Sizemore's, Lewis', and other families from our region.
If you have some stories or photos you would like to share, please send me a message at: revgregdavidson@live.com
The photo above is the old Blue Diamond Mine at Leatherwood which is near my home. Many of a neighbor and family member dropped many a bead of blood, sweat, and tears here.
The handsome gentlemen in the pic on the right is reportedly Jimmy Lewis, the grandfather of my mother Mildred Davidson. Jimmy, and wife Martha Maggard, were the parents of my grandpa Lue Lewis who married Masie Lewis.
These photos are of my grandparents. The one on the left is me with Lue and Masie Lewis. Masie was the daughter of Wilson Lewis and Hetty Jane Joseph.
The pic on the right is my Pa and Granny, Roe and Edna Davidson. Roe was the son of Frank Davidson and Emeriar Napier. Edna was the daughter of John Sizemore and Sally Asher.

Roe, Noah, & Morrow Davidson
Both of my grandfathers were preachers and had their own churches. They were also both gifted musically.
Roe had a church at Thousandsticks and could play almost any instrument. He was best know for playing the banjo and traveled constantly playing and preaching.
Lue had a church on Wolf Creek and was a talented singer. He always had his Bible close by.

CLICK HERE for folklore from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and Appalachia. Stories and legends as well as folk medicine and traditions make our people very unique. If you have anything you would like to add regarding Appalachian culture or "Old Time" ways, please let me know. I recently added some interesting information about folk medicine that our ancestors used. The Traditions and Superstitions Page will be updated often so be sure to check back in.
